Can't believe I haven't come here sooner. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing - we had a group of 8 and everyone loved what they ordered!
Monorom is the restaurant that I miss most in LB. Their loc lac is excellent and prepared differently than what you'll find at most other restaurants.
I missed the taste of my Cambodian mother's cooking, and I came across this place that felt like a comforting reminder of home. We ordered the beef skewers, which were perfectly cooked and came with a side of radish. For entrees, we had to try the steak and tirk prahok, along with the deep-fried fish that came with mango salad and turmeric sauce. Everything was so rich and flavorful, and the presentation of the food was great too. I love supporting local, family-owned small businesses, and I'll definitely be back!
So this is my personal favorite noodle shop in the LBC. I've had the boat house noodles both times I've gone because the boat house noodles are phenomenal. Very comforting. Don't over kill the siracha so you don't lose the broth flavor. Boat noodle soup: 9.5/10 I also love the meat skewers. They're PHENOMENAL. 10/10 Pork belly was also delicious 9.5/10 I love this spot so much. It's a little restaurant, and seems family owned and run. They're so nice!! Please support this amazing hidden gem
Small, but modern restaurant serving authentic Khmer dishes. Highly recommended by the tight knit Cambodian community. Modern interior with Cambodian decors. Since I'm not very familiar with Cambodian dmfood, I went with what the server recommended. The Fried Fish with the tamarind sauce definitely did not disappoint. It was a home run! The service was on a slower pace, but it was attentive and welcoming. Looking forward to trying something else next time around.
First time trying Cambodian food besides our Cambodian bestie Richmond's homemade grub! Let's go ahead and start with the star of the show.. the beef skewers. They're served with this citrusy pickled veggie slaw thing on the side that paired perfectly with the smokiness of the meat. Sincerely sick-ass combo. It took my breath away. I'm desperately craving it now as I'm typing this and I just ate it. Jeez Louise. As Mexicans, my husband and I appreciate a nice spicy salsa to compliment our food, and they were not lacking here when it came to heat. Their little spice caddy was PACKING HEAT. But in the best way possible. The noods, oh my god the noods. We obliterated that Cantonese noodle dish within seconds it feels like. That deep, rich umami was one we hadn't come across in our lifetime and it had us in a chokehold. Honorable mention is the lemongrass soup, calamari, and egg rolls! YUMMERS. Needless to say, they have not seen the last of us. I know Richmond would approve!
Food was delicious. Beef stick was juicy and flavorful, lemon grass chicken was great, and the noodles were savory. Clean atmosphere. However, service can be a bit slow. It took almost an hour and 45mins to get complete our meals from the time we ordered. That doesn't include wait time and taking our orders. Overall, good restaurant.
Monorom is small, but it seems like it's one of those staples that cambodian familes go to. I am not very versed in Cambodian food, but I do know that I like it! Came here with my friend who is Cambodian and I basically had her order everything for us, telling her to not get us anything "safe." I want the most original, most "unsafe" or "weird" (FYI your ethnic food is never weird) so she went HAM and ordered all the unconventional dishes we would never see. We ordered quite a bit, and tbh I don't even remember what everthing is, even when I am looking at the menu but here are some highlights: fried fish and mango sauce (Ithink we got it was tamarind) - regardless of the sauce this shit was so bomb. It was so good, get it. Prahok creme: okay, so this is like a ground meat curry and it comes with a bunch of raw veggies but you eat it all together and that ground meat curry thing is like a dip or a sauce. It comes with the small green raw eggplant which I didn't even know was eaten raw, and despite how it sounds and looks like it was really good. Try something new. TBH I think we got some other dishes like chicken or whatever but no matter what you get I don't think you can go wrong. Overall, can't wait to come back again and try something new
A small, intimate family-owned business with authentic Cambodian dishes! We came on a Saturday night and place was packed, waiting ~20min. Once seated and our order was placed, the food came out relatively quick. As this was my first time here, my bf who's Cambodian decided on the must try dishes which were (ranked from our most-least fave): Lemongrass Soup (5/5)- sweet & sour soup complemented with kroeung spices, herbs, & veggies. aromatic, subtly sharp w/ citrus undertones. one of those dishes that you keep reaching for bc the flavors are so satisfying! Prahok Crème (5/5)- made from fermented fish w/ distinctive flavoring. we'd say this dish is for those with an open minded palate as it's quite a pungent dish, extremely flavorful & balanced by the seasonal raw veggies Beef Skewers (3.5/5)- grill marinated beef with kroeung spice blend paste & seasonings. a classic, but tasted a bit dry for our preference Pin Noodle (2/5)- wok-fried short noodle w/ egg, bean sprout, green onion & sour fish sauce. noodles had a nice chew but was a bit bland/ underwhelming, sauce made it tastier Dishes were distinctive and full of flavor! An absolutely unique culinary experience and would absolutely return if we're in the area!
Parking: Good amount available in parking lot Ambience: Modest establishment with warm tones and various Cambodian figurines hung up on the wall. Menus were sticky and the place didn't seem entirely all too clean, but those vibes are generally when the flavors are the best :') Service: Standard, no complaints! Taste: Got the rice shaken beef (bai lok lak) and lemongrass soup, both of which were amazing and so full of flavor! It was our first time trying Cambodian food, and we both agreed the spices were impeccable. The lemongrass soup also comes with a giant container of rice, so it can definitely be saved for another meal and is very much worth the price. Would highly recommend!
